Clint Rusk, animal science department head, and Adele Tongco, former director of the CASNR Study Abroad Program, are taking 32 OSU students on a study abroad trip to New Zealand on May 13th – May 26th, 2018. There are a variety of majors on this trip, including agricultural business, agricultural communications, agricultural economics, agricultural education, agricultural leadership, animal science, food science, plant and soil science, biochemistry and molecular biology, and natural resource and ecology management.

The students will be studying New Zealand agriculture. They will visit beef cattle operations, dairy cattle farms, honey farms, Orchards, red deer farms, sheep farms, and vegetable farms.

“This trip will be a once-in-a-life-time experience for our students,” said Rusk. “They will learn about international travel, studying abroad, a new culture, and a tremendous amount about New Zealand agriculture.  Most importantly, our students will make new friends and learn that we are living in a global world. They will discover that even on the other side of the world, people and agriculture look quite similar to agriculture in the U.S.”

The students will be maintaining a blog during their trip, and will post each night to https://ansinz.blogspot.com/. The first post will be on May 15th, 2018. Be sure to check the blog for the group’s latest adventures in New Zealand.
