Herd Manager Position Available

The Oklahoma State University Department of Animal Science is looking for a herd manager for their swine unit.

The Oklahoma State University Department of Animal Science is looking for a herd manager for the swine unit. The herd manager responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the feeding, breeding and general husbandry of the purebred swine herd.
  • Supervising full and part-time staff.
  • Assisting in instruction of practical aspects of swine production for many different classes.
  • Supervising selection of breeding stock, the breeding program, registration of pigs and the sale of swine.
  • Supervising maintenance and upkeep of facility.
  • Supervising herd health plan.
  • Maintaining excellent records related to the swine herd and waste management system.
  • Working closely with others in department and university regarding transportation, feed deliveries, veterinary services.
  • Assisting in the implementation of ongoing research projects.
