Fall Born Test:
Steers Born: Before January 1 of the test year
Delivery: Third Wednesday of August
Spring Born Test:
Steers Born: After January 1 of the test year
Delivery: First Wednesday of November
Entry:

Head: 5 steers per group, may enter as many groups as desired.
Weight: 500 lbs. - minimum
Entry Form Due: 1 week prior to delivery

Cost:
Entry Fee: $25 per group
Feed Cost: Feed Intake for each steer is estimated by using the NRC Net Energy gain equation utilizing actual daily gain and average weight. Feed costs are financed and deducted from the final check. Steers remain the porperty of the consignor.
Charges: All steers are charged for routine processing. Treatment cost for respiratory disease or other health problems are charged per head to the appropriate consignor.
Tenderness: For an additional fee of $15 per head, a steak from each of your steers can be removed and a Warner-Bratzler shear force value obtained. The fee is withheld from your final check.
Preconditioning:
OQBN Program: Strongly recommend consignors follow the health and management requirements outlined in the OQBN program.
Weaning: Castrated, dehorned, bunk broke, and branded a minimum of 45 days prior to delivery.
Vaccination: MLV IBR-BVD-BRSV-PI3, booster 14 - 21 days
Marketing:
Harvest: Steers are harvested when it is estimated that 3 of the group of 5 will grade USDA Choice or are considered acceptable for weight and finish (maximum of 180 days on feed). Carcass value is determined using carcass weight and USDA Grade with the corresponding Grid Price given set premiums and discounts. Base Price is negotiated for a Choice Yield Grade 3 carcass.
