Welcome to the Oklahoma State University

Equine Program

The equine curriculum consists of the following courses: Horse Science, Horse Production, Equine Evaluation, Equine Training Methods, Equine Industry Internship, Special Projects in Equine. These Courses are incorporated into the Animal Science major which offers a wide variety of options (i.e. production, business, pre-vet, ranch operations, etc.).

This curriculum further provides experiential learning opportunities through industry internships with farms, trainers and equine associations.

The OSU Horse Farm maintains a Quarter Horse production herd to facilitate the teaching, research and extension programming needs and sells horses for work, show and pleasure.

Horse judging consists of a spring semester judging class and a fall semester judging team. In the spring class, students are provided with the most current information from the horse industry concerning the evaluation of conformation and performance. The Team will compete at several nation and world level contests each year which exposes students to the leading producers and exhibitors in the horse industry.
