Altai

Also Known By: Siberian Rambouillet, Sibirskii Rambulye

The Altai was developed at the Rubtsovsk state farm (now the Ovtsevod Breeding Centre) in southwestern Russia. They were developed from American Rambouillet crossed with Caucasian and Australian Merino and later Siberian Merino. They were recognized as a breed group in 1940.
