Often bred under the same name as the Criollo, the Crioulo is almost identical. The Crioulo is from Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil where as the Criollo is from Argentina. It is a variety of Criollo or native horse of that region. They are also called Courraleiros to reference the type of work the horses are used for. Mainly cattle horses, they trot like the Criollo, herding cows into corrals.
